What is Girls State?

Many 17 years olds would say that learning about government is dull and boring; past participants would tell you that Girls State is one place that learning about government is anything but boring. Here's why: Instead of sitting through lengthy lectures "Staters" learn about city, county and state government by actually running for offices, holding elections, writing ordinances/laws, and various other activities. Staters don't just hear about the government process- they are the process.

Who can Attend?

Girls State is for women who have completed their junior year of high school.

When and Where is Girls State?
Girls State is Sunday, June 10th through Friday, June 15th, 2012. It is held on the University of North Dakota's campus in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
